Making Sense of Public Big Data – Visually

Speaker: Eimar M. Boesjes

Room: Main Stage Theater, inside Hall E

The Census Bureau alone publishes billions of data records every year.  Dozens of other federal agencies, 50 states, more than 3,000 counties and tens of thousands of local government agencies add more public data to the mix on a regular basis.  It can be a daunting challenge to effectively make sense of this Big Data by reviewing tables and graphs alone.  Visualizing and analyzing this data in online geospatial environments such as Bing or Google Maps allows you to see the concepts and results in more interesting and useful ways to make faster and better-informed strategic, managerial and operational decisions.
