The Nuts and Bolts of Disaster Recovery

Speaker: Steve Knipple

Room: Main Stage Theater, inside Hall E

Everyone understands the basics of Plan, Build, Test and Run. But what exactly does that mean when you’re trying to achieve effective Disaster Recovery?

In this session, Steve Knipple provides an overview of relevant Disaster Recovery case studies, including a basic DR architecture and a high-availability geo-distant cloud environment. Steve’s presentation covers the nuts and bolts of:

-Identifying business continuity goals
-Developing Recover Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
-Creating a Disaster Recovery Playbook to include replication points, log transfer requirements and detailed failover procedures
-Testing the replication process; verifying bandwidth requirements, system boot sequences, and final failover system operation
-Evaluating costs and trade-offs of cold, warm and hot data replication.
