Jo Ana Alvarado

Jo Ana Alvarado has more than 25 years of Information Technology experience. She joined SAHA in 2012, and presently oversees the Innovative Technology Department. In her first two years alone, Alvarado transformed 50 SAHA community rooms into areas of opportunity with the implementation of the residential public access WiFi network. With access to the Internet, the SAHA family and elderly residents can use the SAHA provided community room computers or BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) to access job sites, educational portals and government program sites. For this work, she and her staff won the NAHRO 2014 National Award of Merit for Program Innovation Resident and Client Services. The first NAHRO Award ever granted to the SAHA IT Department. Departing from the traditional infrastructure to do email and save business documents, Alvarado has embraced cloud technologies by introducing Google Apps for Government to the SAHA workforce. In 2014, Alvarado was the proud recipient of the SAHA Employee Recognition Award in Innovation for her approach in implementing new technologies while advocating change in the IT culture. In leading this change in culture Alvarado promotes new thinking that has opened the technology playground to create a hybrid infrastructure that marries traditional technology with current technologies that solve business solutions. Her prior experience includes 14years overseeing and managing the Information Technology department for a leading Hispanic Marketing Communications company with offices in San Antonio, TX, New York, NY and Miami, FL. In this capacity, Alvarado, was the recipient of the Fearless Innovator Award for her work in building web based applications that streamlined work processes and improved productivity. Alvarado is a graduate of St. Mary's University and has over seven years experience in teaching technology as an Adjunct Faculty member at San Antonio College. As Department Chairperson for a Computer Networking Department, Alvarado supported curriculum for technology programs in CISCO Networking and Microsoft Administrator/Server Technologies. During her tenure as Technology Chairperson, she met her goals of achievement by coaching, advising and encouraging students to obtain industry standard certifications.
