Katie Kelly is a UX Architect with a background in development, specializing in breaking down cultural and technical barriers in the enterprise.  She is also a mentor at NEX, a select invite only technical collective in Dallas, where she works with startups to define and execute their software products in fin-tech, real estate technology, security and data analysis. While her current work is focused on healthcare, for the past three years she has been immersed in information security. One of her passions has been finding ways to address the human side of security concerns in ways that make sense to multiple industries, and different layers of technical expertise. Though her work is usually focused on enterprise-size problems, she supports many startups locally in Texas and has run a number of initiatives to bridge the gap between the two communities. Beyond the usual Tech Week type events, Katie has run exclusive community events. These include Roundup for Startups, which helped employ over 150 designers and developers into the local startup community on one Saturday afternoon.  In an alliance with the University of North Texas, a big data consortium was formed that culminated in a two day big data "hack" with IBM, Microsoft, Socrata, the City of Dallas, Denton, Fort Worth, and surrounding communities. Katie has a double degree in communication technology and Journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington.  She is currently a co-founder of a stealth-stage healthcare startup.
